The pioneer of the salmónidos fishing, the biggest attraction that Tierra del Fuego toasts as for the sport of the cane, attraction that reaches justified world fame with the fishing with fly in the Big river, was John Goodal, quiel carried out its works of I study and siembre between 1930 and 1957 with ovas and juvenile of trouts coming from Chile and San Carlos from Bariloche. Newly August 13 1974 the Station was inaugurated of Piscicultura Laughs Olivia, next to the outlet of that river in the channel of Beagle, very near Ushuaia, dedicated to raise alevinos and juvenile of trout for rivers and lakes interiors of the Big Island.
The species sowed with success are the stream trout, trout rainbow and trout brown or European. Alevinos of contained salmon was also sowed and of salmon to salt or salmon of the Atlantic. As much the brown trout as the salmon to salt emigrates to the sea and they return to the locus in quo they were sowed or they were born naturally.
In all the rivers of Tierra del Fuego of permanent flow and in the almost entirety of their lakes are practiced the salmónidos fishing with spinning team or of fly.
The fishing with teams for salmónidos is carried out, also, in each one of the rivers that they are crossed when you travels from Big River until Ushuaia. In some places, the one scarce flow and the easiness of the surrounding land invite to the use of fly team dry, with that which the sport value increases considerably. As for the spinning, it is advisable to use canes with "mini" front reel, nylon until the number 30 and a good varieadad of revolvable teaspoons.
