BRIEF REVIEW HISTORICAL OF THE CITY DE JUNÍN OF THE ANDES:

Puente PeatonalIn the time pre-Hispanic, tribes mapuches and tehuelches shared these immense parks natural, living off the hunt and of the fishing, and surrendering tribute to "mapu" the earth and to "Nguenechén" the god, for the gifts that you/they received year after year.

With the campaign undertaken by the General  J. Rock begins to arrive "huincas" ("born in another place" in language mapuche) that with the intention of extending the sovereignty of the nation faces with the towns natives in bloody combats.

In 1882 one advanced of the I Exercise up Yconiyén, valley of the chacayales, depression in the one that today you halla  the city. And they raise the first outpost. It is said that the place to make it it was chosen by the biggest Sergeant Miguel E. Vidal who was the one I send of the unit, reason why it considers it to him the founder.

A new one expedition leaves for this valley in 1883, with the mission of sitting down bases for one population, for express order of the Cardinal Cagliero who was convinced of that it should be conquered to the native through the gospel.

Initially, the town would call himself General Cold, but then it finished calling you Junín of those Andes. Junín derives of the word aymará "hunis" that means pastizal.

During those first years it was more a military position that a town, but with the arrival of the priests salesianos Domingo Milanesio and Juan Ruggerone, in 1892 who they visited the area in missionaries' quality, the history changed. The father Milanesio settled definitively in 1895, and it founded the house salesiana with two schools, to assist the native children, to provide them allowances, education and evangelism.

With the time they were settling down the first residents that transformed this "pampas" in a strong center cattleman of Neuquén. In fact, the Rural Society of Junín of those Andes organizes annually, from 1933, a cattle exhibition that is taken to end at the end of January.

Inside the history of Junín of the Andes has great importance the proximity of the volcano Lanín, respected and feared by the natives.

The town newly it is recognized in 1945 when, for national ordinance, it is declared Municipality of Junín of the Andes, together with other two cities neuquinas: San Martin from the Andes and Cutral Có.

The city of Junín of the Andes is the first foundation registered in territory neuquino, this means that it is the oldest town in Neuquén.

Today in day, people of all the races and religions have populated the area, atraídos  for those beauties of the place, their resources little explored and a quality of life that them it assures peace and well-being.
