THE CITY

It is very easy to understand the reason of his name, is enough to stop themselves on ravines and to enjoy the river running on his feet, to understand it. , Nevertheless most attractive, they are those that watch the city from the river, the imponencia of their ravines and pleasure to feel Parana opening itself like a friend as opposed to the passage of the boat. In the city it must walk between its streets with slopes and ascents and smell the aroma to oranges that crosses the locality embriagando to the travellers as a siren with its song to the sailors. If we spoke of beautiful women, it will not find them but pretty that in this city, that recostada on Parana rests its siesta fearing to the “pombero”.

Already in the islands, the forest in gallery covers streams and there it will be able to discover, brave a green sky of tacuara, thorn of black and curupí crown, timbó, lapacho. But it is not distracted much watching upwards, if it neglects the hook… him is possible to be saved a surubí.

HISTORY - Brief review
Before its foundation the place was well-known with the denomination of “the Crucecita”. A place of mooring of the boats that sailed Parana, forced to stop during the night, by the difficulties that the river with the continuous modification of its channels offered.

Its foundation was approved by law the 3 of June of 1825, during the Interior de Pedro Ferré. The city was scene of memorable events of the past provincial, even is, in the corner of the streets San Juan and San Martin, a lot with aged naranjos marking the site in which the community met for the defense of the municipality in the period of the civil wars and during the invasion of the Paraguayan forces in 1865.

In the complex are the rest of a brig of Spanish origin that dates from more than 200 years.

ISLANDS OF THE TOROPÍ

For this stroll one is due to journey by provincial route 27 towards the south of the city and to about 7 kilometers is its access.

Here the navigator Sebastián Gaboto was with Diego Garci'a where they had a friendly interview little since both maintained to their right and authority to conquer these regions.

The name of Toropí (bull leather), in guaraní was possibly used by the natives like topónimo because in the zone fosilíferos deposits of the Superior Quaternary are appraised where the fossil rest of Armadillos Gigantes or Gliptodontes predominate, whose superior structure would make think the natives about leather. Passages are made in 4 xs 4
