The Nilson.
One of the outputs required if you chose fishing destination for Rio Pico. Chubut-Argentina

por: Enrique Gómez

The ringing of rain on the roof and the crackling of wood in the large fireplace of the cabin, the sound was pleasant and sensitive listening to bed and getting up. For me, I lived up to twenty sheets in a house, the sound of drops hitting the roof, were a stroke of my story.
The awakening was a picture of sensations that only in this city of Rio Pico cabin could be accumulated.
The gray morning light coming through the windows covered, the insistent sound of rain, the dying fire still spreading its warmth, heavy drops falling from uneven corrugated tin roof, warming the kettle, mate on the table, the peaks capped peaks of the Andes and the resinous odor of burned logs enveloped us in its spell.
As all those feelings were lost with reality, listen to some fear the torrential rain and violent wind. We saw the future as a rock that would not allow us to enjoy the best day of fishing.
As we were getting dressed and getting ready, we noticed that everything had gotten worse.

The lake three, who looked from one of our windows, was gray as the clouds. The scattered waves filled the entire visible surface. In the mist, rising from millions of particles that fell off white collar, the drops were added, that infallible swirling translucent fell on them. The trees, their tops stubbornly forcing the exaggerated movement they caused the wind. Retained the vertical force of roots, stems and branches used to that fight.
Our enthusiasm did not flag, but the concern and we hid all the picture of beauty and feelings that had gripped us as soon as we wake up. Now, after the brutal beauty that inevitably involved us, we saw the difficulty we expected.
That day our destination would be the Rio Nilson.
A river that runs into the peak water, and their encounter is known for the variety of ways that this practice allows natural accident. There are long streamers wells for use with light rods, beaches and wide riffles to fish with nymphs and small streams, with entry and exit to the main river, where the use of dry is a delight.

Arriving at Rio Nilson

Retrace their steps to the house of the Americans who had visited the day before to reach the Rio Pico. We pay tolls to which we are used, and instead of taking to the right, surrounded the house on the left and a short path without trace docked to start the truck on foot, the road to Rio Nilsson. The wet floor was like a green turf carpet imperfect. Shrubs and trees thinned, and threatening some gray trunks, forming the environment of where we prepare. We heard the roar of the wind that moved the high tops of the mountain that we defended. The wind, since we left the cabin, had been increasing. Neither we realized the stress of a journey fraught with risks to the truck. No word as we crossed equipábamos. A cane, vest and a small backpack each to get on the road.
Getting to the Nilson is to follow the route of the Peak. This is easy with normal and rivers more benign weather. There are sites that require step to get into the Peak for cutting road. We were obliged to intern left the river because it was impossible to follow the familiar path.
There was so much wasted time, but if we missed each bite would have avoided cross fences that would stop us and sometimes they prepared laterally debiéndolos overcome more than once.

It was a hike takes about an hour or more.
Julio and I are fishing with more than 65 years and nothing scares us or holds us back, but the reality of the outside with our years, sometimes, just sometimes, forces us to rethink our fishing scenarios. This day, with winds of more than sixty miles per hour in a dive, sometimes visible and passable, and others, with almost insurmountable difficulties for us was not the best scenario or climate to try fishing.
We were ready to get to Nilsson. Among beech, willow, ñires, bushes Coligan, chopped impassable, with small streams and creeks refalosa, fences and water meadows where the wind almost would not let us walk, walking convinced would come. If after we fished or not, would decide when we were there.

Or talk fishing
Walter, whom everyone calls "Pelado" covered us. Julio walked the whole way. Protected him, cared for and assisted in all, not helpful to be a hero or by exaggerating their intentions. Its approach made clear his wish that we felt was to help us. - Don Julio's going good -, - helped him to cross the fence? -, - Come this way that is safer -, You want me to take the helm?. - Let's rest awhile. These consultations and advice offered us security and confidence.
After touring the muddy road between the mountain road trip worth it as adventure tourism, we come to the meeting of two rivers.
The wind took us into the clearing that forms in the beach gravel and stones that form the clash of the two waters. We looked like the shaky image of children learning to walk. We supported the body in the wind and tried to keep the vertical.
I told her to July: From fish or talk and he said: I came here once and I did not today but do not use the cane arrived.

She had arranged for many years to reach the Nilson with Marcelo Morales and this, this morning had an accident which prevented them meet. Of course, not relent in trying to reach, but this time, could not achieve. I supported his decision and agreed with Walter arrive, relax and eat something. Then go back. Fishing would not be possible at least until sunset, if we were lucky that at that time the wind subsided. Most likely this would not happen. We ate some sandwiches, we took a few beers and July, despite the impressive wind fell asleep for a nap. Walter, which guides not want to lose an earthquake, pulled me to one arm and tried Nilsson blind I could put my fly under some willows that were just five meters from the scope of the fly. It was impossible. He added to my clumsiness, wind, current, and my lack of belief that the trout out meant something. Not insist we returned to where we keep out the wind.
Once again nature has demonstrated that the predictability of a fishing outing is not the responsibility of fishermen. We decided to go back and try in the quiet of the Peak. A place, which by their glens, we would throw line. The wind quickly disenchanted. July he tied a pair of spades. I, on the same site as the previous day had plunged more than a dozen trout, was not so lucky. Again it started raining. We had had enough for one day and started back retracing the quagmire of the way back to the cabin.

Conclusion:

Everything indicates that Nilson is a wonderful place to fish if weather conditions permit. While at the meeting of two rivers, the Pico and Nilson, it became clear a corner with all the variants to test fish and the procedures which they occur. Walter took me to a blind arm very easy to fish with dry and we even saw trout fishing and I wanted to do that while I was belly down so you do not see me, I could never come close or near the fly. The road is easy but my story can show otherwise. Advancing with the Rio Pico right, no matter the difficulty of losing the track, he ends up meeting with the Rio Nilson in one unforgettable walk more or less an hour.
I can not speak of flies, sites and experiences, except that I have told, but I am confident Walter versions as to the goodness of fish in that particular spot. We are assured by many piques cane trout per kilo would no exceptions. The place is fordable and has the conditions to which one can spend a great day of fishing if you decide Pico River as a destination. Sorry I can not display photos with catches, but fishing is fishing, even with the best guide.
