Rosario lake
For want of trouts, pejerreyes with fly
Trevelin - Chubut - Argentina

In our recent visit to Chubut we visited the Lake Rosary, in the City of Trevelin, to arrive at this one lake it is necessary to take the way that goes to Bent and to few km. of Trevelin there is a bifurcation, one bends to the left, and the way takes us to the lake (is cartelería, always we make excellent fishing there of trouts arcoiris.

In a boat facilitated by our friend Randall Thomas (concessionary of the lake) we left Patricia, Enrique, Julio and I, directly towards the mouth of the river Nant and Fall, exclusive zone of fishing with fly and obligatory return (in other sectors of the lake one allows trolling and spinning), we armed to equipment #4 and #6 with dry flies and began the fishing.

The Climatic Change, is spoken much of this one change, as for me I lived two experiences that they indicate to me that already it is between us, the winter last in Passage of the Mother country froze several followed days and the cars were frosted, something who never had seen myself in this one place, in the patagónica mountain range made 40 temperatures of º in Pico River, Bent, Trevelin, something that is not normal either, the waters lowered and they warmed up much and that dissuaded fishing as of February and with but reason in March.

The Lake Rosary did not escape to that situation, was with low water level and with a temperature like bathing, this caused that the subaqueous vegetation was closely together of the surface in the sectors near the mouth of the Nant and Fall, we saw the trouts, and nor they moved were quiet near the bottom and in spite of the presence of the boat they remained there, surely did not have oxygen sufficient to leave sudden flights like always.

We threw type of lines and flies without no resentment yet, to average behind schedule Patricia it put a ninfita to touch to the pejerreyes and captured a pair of them, already was tardecita so we returned to Trevelin.

We decided to return to fish pejerreyes with fly, thing that we did on the following day, in this opportunity Enrique and Julio already had undertaken the return, so he accompanied Simón, son of Jose Luis Contreras (proprietor of the Oregon Cabins) and future to us fishing guide.

Again to he himself sector of the previous day and to try to fish the robust patagónicos pejerreyes (Basilichthys Microlepidotus) of the Lake Rosary, they are quite different from bonaerensis, shorter, but round, with small head but, small mouth and dark yellowish color with the end of black the grudges, vigorous and much more very aggressive in its resentments.

We fished a few, of several measures, we amused much and we spent a beautiful day of fishing, hope that in our next visit there is but water, is but cold, and trouts with pejerreyes alternate themselves, as always.
