Fishing of coast with fly and artificial in
Bay San Blas
A little variant in our waters but really amused

Last days we visited Bay San Blas with the
idea to make a fishing with artificial of palometas, had the data of Manfred
Relling that were already eating near the coast and we planned a fishing of
coast in Fly Cast, Spinning and Baitcasting, and a fishing embarked in equal
modalities, but the embarked climate said not and the fishing we left it for
November end.
In order to arrive at Bay San Blas it is
necessary to journey by the Nac Route. N° 3, if they go from White Bay must
lower in the city of Ströeder in km. 881, if they go from Carmen de Patagones in
km. 929 the Homing is a place denominated (there are posters), in both cases the
route until the bay is of approx 70 km. by debris way.
They must have precaution to cross this one

The development of the fishing with fly in the
sea has had a growth every greater time in last the three decades, particularly
in the Caribbean and other zones of tropical seas where the variety and quality
of fish are spectacular. Very crystalline waters with a variety of hallucinating
colors that go from celestial the very clear one to the blue turquesa and the
deep one, a warm and calm climate in certain added stations of the year to a
infinity of coastal accidents like bays, peninsulas, lagoons, atolls,
archipelagoes, banks, etc., define clearly different types from atmospheres
populated by an immense variety of marine fauna, and therefore the possibility
of knowing where and with that touching to the fish but coveted by the fishermen
of fly and other type of artificial.
Our marine coast however is very poor in
coastal accidents, and if it has an extraordinary wealth in varieties of fish
very coveted internationally at gastronomical level well, very few varieties
have sport value, thus the fishing with artificial has had a thin development.
Exceptional they were the decades of ´60 and
´70, where it was quite common that in the month of March - in Necochea and Sea
of the Silver, some fishermen of outpost looked for with fioccos (jigs) - doing

artificial, perhaps in smaller amount than with natural bait (although when they

entertained and often it sees them when they take, and if they are great, with a
very light equipment they give an electrical fight.
Disadvantages and election of the place
The greater disadvantage in our coasts is based on the intense wind that
devastates on our coasts most of the days of the year, thus almost are no water
places calm to cross with shallow-draft vessels and light pack light field
equipment.
Peninsula of Buckets in its creek and its two gulfs - depending on the direction
of the wind he is one of the few places where waters can be found I am

characteristics famous for decades and visited by thousands of fishing lovers of
the shark and the varied fishing has been Bay San Blas, located in the South end
of the province of Buenos Aires, a paradise of the fishing that has been visited
by Pescanet for years.
Bay San Blas
35 years happened from the last time that stepped on those coasts of this called
island “Wild boar” which is separated of the continent by two you laugh: the
Wild boar and the Guanaco. The change has been very great from that then and for
my it went like going to a totally new place (since at the beginning of ´70
single there was a construction that occupied prefecture and some that another
small house), and at the moment are many hotels, cabins and commerce of all type
throughout the coast, conforming a simple and very pleasant town facing the sea.
And there we arrived the 22 of October with the idea to experience the fishing
of palometas with fly.
Our gurú
Manfred Relling was our advisor with regard to the fishing with fly in this
place, since he is the unique one that uses this modality in San Blas.
He is owner of the pharmacy and a fanatic of the fishing with fly with years of
experience in the Patagonia.
Their weakness is the palometa (signata Parona) with fly from the coast of the
town and the lenguado one (Paralichtys spp) also with fly in laughs it.
It explained us that palometas enters the bay
from half-full of September and can be fished from a boat to summer ends.
But from its arrival and by approximately a month they are brought closer to the
stone coast of the town in search of food, and as much they approach that fly
shot of or decoy puts themselves to, and sometimes so great shoals of fish that
they are possible to be seen attacking small pejerreyes.
It said us that the weight average oscillates between half kilo to two, with
exceptional units that can arrive at the four kilos and that its fishing is made
during the first two hours before the maximum tip of the high water ( peak

strong and the fish stop in their activity or simply they retire).
The fishing
The day was dreamed: very smooth wind, the
barren sea and its transparent waters enough.
And there we were the four, arming our equipment of fly: Manfred with its 6 cane
# and one line wet tip and streamer classic of hair of tail of white red deer
with shining body; Patricia and Hugo with canes #8 and lines Teeny type, and I
chose one #5 with a Teeny 130.
Flies in stainless hook in made sizes #4 and 6 with lurex silverplated in style
“Puglisi” with celestial or green back with eyes and head of epoxy of about 6 cm
in length were our election to initiate the experience. In addition we armed an
equipment of spinning with a spoon copies of the “Katsmaster” very adapted for
this fishing by its weight and brightness and another one of bait casting with
plastic a articulated decoy of about 10 cm in length of silver-plated color (chromed
to the high emptiness), with black back of short trowel.
About 20 minutes of launchings with certain difficulty - that the wind we had it
of right it was already the time of delay until the last one of palometas began
and the first resentment occurred.
Of in but the activity palometas of until a kilo and means of weight lasted
three hours with a result of approximately 30 there (approx) and few pejerreyes
of so many that our flies attacked but that we could not nail dice the size of
the hook.
From time to time we varied making tiritos of
spinnig and bait, with good results.
From quite violent resentment, palometas got to do some that another bullfight

Really very pretty fishing. He would be interesting to try it with ultralight
canes of spinning, microreels with smooth registry of brake loaded with

to limper, etc) as well as with small jigs with something of brightness.

At some time the activity was so that the four simultaneously we had one caught,

activity became null.
That night the wind changed to the south with very strong bursts and therefore
the climate was put but cold. The fishing was very poor on the following day and
almost null the later one, only the interesting thing was the capture of a
lenguadito with spoon that itched to two meters of distance.
But the experience of that first morning was really very good and indicative of
the potential that has the coast of Bay ultralight San Blas for the development
of the fishing with fly and decoys. Perhaps in a month we return and perhaps we
have the luck of which the climate stays stable. Really it is worth the trouble
to try it.
